The Giants are getting bigger.

On the eve of heading to training camp in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., the Giants released the first renderings of the construction underway at Quest Diagnostics Training Center that is the primary reason for their summer displacement.

The locker room will be expanded to span more than 6,000 square feet and feature 100 full-size lockers, the weight room will cover more than 11,000 square feet and include a nutrition bar and cardio mezzanine overlooking the indoor practice field, and the sports medicine and recovery suite will be tripled in size.

The full scope of the renovations to a building that opened in 2010 across from MetLife Stadium is not expected to be completed until 2028.

“This is a significant investment in the future of our football operation,” Giants owner John Mara said in a statement. “We believe it is our responsibility to provide our players, coaches and staff with the resources and environment they need to succeed. As the game continues to evolve, we must continue to evolve with it. This project reflects our commitment to our people and to building a foundation that will support the New York Giants for years to come.”

The project is not John Harbaugh-driven, but rather was in the works at least as far back as when Joe Judge was pushing for a modernization of facilities upon his arrival in 2020. COVID-19 delayed the start of the process.

Harbaugh was shown renderings during his interview process.

The project, run by EwingCole and Natoli Construction Corp., features approximately 93,500 square feet of new construction and 46,000 square feet of renovations designed to better serve the needs of players, coaches and staff.

Other highlights are integrated recovery and wellness areas, including hydrotherapy, steam, sauna, red-light therapy, cryotherapy, dry float tanks and hyperbaric chambers, as well as modernized player and team areas to support preparation. The meeting room spaces are considered outdated by NFL standards.

“From the outset, our goal was to create a space that reflects who we are as an organization while pushing forward into what’s next,” Giants treasurer Jonathan Tisch said in a statement. “Every design decision was made with purpose — from how players move through the building to how a team connects and collaborates. This is about creating an environment that feels distinctly Giants and gives our players and staff everything they need to succeed.”

The Giants finished a renovation and expansion of their in-house cafeteria this spring as the initial phase of the plan.
