Let the overreaction begin.

The Giants were a trendy team for NFL bettors to get behind in the offseason after they added head coach John Harbaugh, and that buzz followed them into the regular season.

After their convincing 28-20 Week 1 win at home against the Cowboys — their second-ever season-opening win against their division rival in 12 meetings — the noise is getting louder.

Several teams saw significant line movement on their odds to make the playoffs after Week 1, but the G-Men stand out as one of the teams gaining traction with the public.

Their odds to make the playoffs opened at +310 at BetMGM and moved to +260 before Week 1.

After Week 1, that number dropped to +165, which means they went from a 26 percent chance to make the postseason before Week 1 to a 36 percent chance heading into Week 2.

The only team that made a bigger week-to-week jump was the Chiefs after their huge 31-10 win over the Broncos.

NFL playoff odds movement after Week 1

TeamWeek 1Week 2
Chiefs64%73%
Bears48%57%
Vikings38%46%
Giants26%36%
Raiders14%17%
Jets10%17%
Cardinals4%7%
Percentages reflect implied odds using lines from BetMGM.

Part of the reason why the line has moved so much is that 99 percent of the money wagered on that market is landing on the “Yes” option for Giants playoff odds.

Bettors aren’t just buying playoff futures when it comes to Big Blue.

The Giants’ season win total, which moved from 7.5 to 8.5, has the third-most tickets for an Over bet at BetMGM behind the Vikings and Broncos.

The vibes around the Giants are extremely high right now, and they are already drawing praise from the likes of Rob Gronkowski and Mike Tomlin after one game.

Betting on the NFL?

Whether their outlook remains rosy depends on whether the Giants consistently play at a high level, something they struggled to do last season when their flashes of brilliance were followed by extended periods of ineptitude.

They enter Week 2 as seven-point road underdogs to the Rams, but the public is betting heavily on the Giants pulling off the upset.

According to DraftKings betting data, more than 80 percent of bets are on the G-Men to win outright.
