The 911 call from Bronny James’ medical emergency Monday was released and depicted just how urgent the matter was .
“We need an ambulance – immediately,” a caller said to the 911 dispatcher after James’ cardiac arrest. “Listen, listen, listen to me. Get an ambulance here now.”
“All right, sir, we’re going to send help,” the dispatcher responded. “Don’t hang up, sir, don’t hang up.”
The dispatcher then asked if there was a doctor or nurse at the premises. The caller replied: “No, there’s no doctor.”
James suffered a sudden cardiac arrest on Monday and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center said in a statement Thursday that he had been discharged.
“Thanks to the swift and effective response by the USC athletics’ medical staff, Bronny James was successfully treated for a sudden cardiac arrest. He arrived at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center fully conscious, neurologically intact and stable,” the statement said. “Mr. James was cared for promptly by highly-trained staff and has been discharged home, where he is resting. Although his workup will be ongoing, we are hopeful for this continued progress and encouraged by his response, resilience and his family and community support.”
Earlier Thursday, Los Angeles Lakers star forward LeBron James, Bronny’s father, made his first public statement on social media.
The elder James’ post said that everyone was doing “great” and thanked fans for their support.
“I want to thank the countless people sending my family love and prayers. We feel you and I’m so grateful. Everyone doing great,” LeBron James wrote. “We have our family together, safe and healthy, and we feel your love. Will have more to say when we’re ready but I wanted to tell everyone how much your support has meant to all of us!”
