Geri Horner’s ‘stance on Ferrari move’ as Christian Horner linked with sensational switch | F1 | Sport

Geri Horner reportedly supports a potential move to Ferrari for her husband, Christian Horner. The 51-year-old was sacked by Red Bull after the British Grand Prix in July, ending a 20-year partnership with the Milton Keynes squad, but is now being linked with a sensational return to the Formula One paddock with its most iconic team.

A report from the Daily Mail on Monday revealed that Horner has already held talks with the Scuderia regarding a potential move for the 2026 season. The Brit’s settlement with Red Bull allows him to re-enter the F1 paddock next year, and with Fred Vasseur struggling to turn around Ferrari’s form, he is emerging as a serious contender to replace the Frenchman.

Horner’s wife, Geri, is on board with a switch to Ferrari, according to a second report from the Daily Mail. This would be a big life decision for the family, though, with a move to Italy necessary to take up the role.

The report alleges that Horner has been in contact with the Italian constructor twice in the last few years, including as their prime target before Vasseur was signed from Sauber to replace Mattia Binotto.

According to former F1 star and FIA steward Johnny Herbert, Ferrari should pour their resources and focus into luring Horner to Maranello. “I like Fred Vasseur a lot, but maybe you need to get someone who’s been able to create a winning formula,” he told bettinglounge.co.uk.

“And that potentially points to Christian Horner. Their prime target has to be Christian. The team has all the ingredients they need. They just haven’t been able to put them together. They’ve got the drivers, so there’s no argument on that front. They have probably overcome a lot of those mistakes, pit-stop mistakes, strategy mistakes that they used to make.

“But the pure raw pace of the car is not there. So, you need someone, but they still haven’t been able to attract the people that they need to be able to produce the car that is good on track. Adrian [Newey] left McLaren and went to Red Bull where he was given the freedom by Christian. He created the environment in which Newey was able to breathe and flourish.

“Once you’ve got Adrian breathing freely and easily, you get the best out of him. And that’s what Ferrari haven’t quite been able to achieve yet. They haven’t got that one person, who is that leader. You need the management to be able to attract that right person and then give them that freedom to do what they want.”

Horner has also been linked with a host of other teams, including Aston Martin, Haas, Alpine and Cadillac. Ayao Komatsu confirmed that talks had taken place with a representative of Gene Haas before the Singapore Grand Prix, but that a deal was not on the cards.
