George Clooney joins forces with Adam Sandler and Laura Dern in the first glimpse of Jay Kelly, the latest offering from director Noah Baumbach.
The entertaining and heartwarming trailer dropped today (Tuesday, 5th August) and is already creating buzz for the forthcoming comedy.
Ocean’s Eleven star Clooney takes on the role of a celebrated actor called Jay Kelly who sets off on a European odyssey alongside his manager and friend, Ron (portrayed by Sandler).
During their escapade, they “reflect on their life choices, relationships, and legacies”, according to the film’s synopsis.
Alongside Clooney and Sandler, the picture boasts an impressive ensemble cast featuring Dern, Billy Crudup and Riley Keough, reports the Mirror.
Dern takes on the character of Liz, Jay’s publicist, whilst Crudup depicts a fellow thespian who didn’t reach comparable heights of stardom.
Keough portrays Jay’s elder daughter, with Grace Edwards cast as his younger child and Stacy Keach appearing as his father.
The remarkable star-studded lineup extends further as the production showcases numerous recognisable faces from both Hollywood and Britain.
Barbie helmer Greta Gerwig appears as Ron’s spouse, whilst beloved British star Jim Broadbent portrays the filmmaker who launched Jay to stardom.
Additionally featuring in undisclosed parts are Emily Mortimer, Patrick Wilson, Eve Hewson, Lenny Henry, Isla Fisher and Jamie Demetriou. The supporting cast is rounded out by Nicôle Lecky, Thaddea Graham, Alba Rohrwacher, Josh Hamilton, Louis Partridge, Parker Sawyers, Patsy Ferran, Lars Eidinger, Kyle Soller, Tom Francis and Giovanni Esposito.
The film boasts a wealth of talent behind the scenes as well, with writer-director Baumbach renowned for his work on critically acclaimed films like The Squid and the Whale and Marriage Story, and for co-writing Barbie alongside his wife and collaborator Gerwig.
Actress Emily Mortimer, who also stars in Jay Kelly, has co-written the film with Baumbach.
Mortimer, best known for her roles in films such as Hugo and Mary Poppins Returns, has also penned scripts for the comedy series Doll and Em and the period romance The Pursuit of Love, which she directed.
Jay Kelly will be released in select cinemas on 14th November and 5th December on Netflix.
