GB News presenter Martin Daubney was moved to tears live on-air and said he had “just had enough” after finding out that the Government handed taxpayer money to a migrant sex offender. Hadush Kebatu, who sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl and a woman while living in an asylum hotel, was given £500 before being flown back to Ethiopia. Talking to the founder of the Pink Ladies group, Lorraine Kavanagh, Martin expressed his emotion after learning of the news.
He remarked: “I’m just feeling so emotional about what’s happening in Britain and what’s going on on our streets. It seems like every day is just totally out of control. A lot of the heartbreak and consternation.
“This all started on your patch in Epping, this scumbag, let’s call him what he is. He’s now been flown out of the country. He’s got £500 of British taxpayers’ money. Is that the final insult?”
Lorraine replied: “Well, actually, Martin, £500 was a bit of a bargain because he wasn’t eligible for the Government’s voluntary return scheme, which would have been £1,500.
“So he’s gone off with £500, that’s a year’s pay in Ethiopia, leaving a 14-year-old girl and a woman with no compensation, and the wreckage of their lives. We’re sitting ducks. I feel as though we are sitting ducks.”
Martin agreed: “I mean, I admire your glass-half-full attitude about the £500. In fact, thanks for saying that, because it’s helped me a bit. I’ve been trying to make sense of this all morning, but I still find it very, very difficult to grasp the concept that somebody could get a single penny of money for this.
“It’s not the Government’s money, it’s our money. Every single British taxpayer has paid for it. It’s not a b***dy Government fund; it’s ours.
“This guy has got £500 to go back to his country after molesting a teenager who will probably remember it for the rest of her life and may never have a normal life as a consequence. Now, all of us who have daughters. I’ve just had enough of this. We’ve just had enough.”
Kebatu had been mistakenly released from prison before he was re-arrested and deported.
