Furious Brits ‘cancel Sky subscriptions’ over Gary Neville video | UK | News

Angered Brits are boycotting Sky by “cancelling their subscriptions” after Gary Neville blamed “middle-aged white men” for dividing Britain in the wake of the Manchester synagogue attack. Furious Sky Sports subscribers are calling for the former England football star to be removed from the channel after posting a controversial video on social media. The ex-captain of Manchester United made the comments after the Manchester synagogue terror attack where two men were killed.

In response, social media users have flocked to X, threatening to boycott the TV channel. One person wrote: “Will be cancelling my Sky Sports subscription whilst lovie leftie, unpatriotic, terrorist supporting, Gary Neville is employed by the channel.” Another said: “Angry white men, millions of us who pay subscriptions, have had enough of this P***, get him gone!” A third simply wrote: “Subscription cancelled.”

Mr Neville spoke about seeing British flags in the city, claiming that he took one down “instantly” that was put up at one of his development sites.

In the video, he said: “I was driving to Salford City, going down Littleton Road seeing probably 50-60 Union Jack flags. Then on the way back I went down the parallel road, which is Bury New Road, which has got the Jewish community right at its heart and they’re out on the streets, defiant, not hiding or in fear.

“I just kept thinking as I was driving home last night that we’re all being turned on each other and the division that’s being created is absolutely disgusting. Mainly created by angry middle-aged white men who know exactly what they’re doing.”

In response to this, one person on X said: “As a middle-aged, white veteran male, I am and will continue putting up my flag… sadly also as a Manchester United and Gary Neville fan I will also boycott everything to do with him if this is his views.”

A second person wrote: “Gary Neville is just another out of touch Labour supporting celebrity, many such examples – but this time he’s gone too far by blaming the white working class for a Jihadi Islamist terrorist attack on Jews.”

Mr Neville said that the “Union Jack flag used in a negative fashion is not right” and that the recent ‘Raise the Colours’ movement is “sending a message to everybody that there is something you don’t like”.

The Daily Express has contacted Sky for comment.
