Schools up and down the country are set to close as the Met Office warns of dangerous conditions caused by an arctic snow blast.
Some schools in the UK are closing as snow threatens to cause chaos in some regions this week. The snow has already started to fall in some areas as the Met Office placed yellow weather warnings across the UK. Scotland, Aberdeenshire and Stornoway are among the areas in the Highlands to see snow.
The East Midlands and the north of England are also expected to be heavily impacted, with snow already reported in the Yorkshire Dales.
The Met Office has issued a snow and ice warning for much of Northern Ireland, parts of Scotland,and parts of northern England.
The Piece Hall School in Halifax is the first school to announce it will be closed.
