PORT ST. LUCIE — Little doubt exists around the Mets that Francisco Lindor will be ready for the regular season despite undergoing hamate bone surgery Wednesday.
That confidence stems from the man himself.
Lindor’s nickname is “Mr. Smiles.” He radiates more male model in his off-field dress and stature than elite athlete.
Don’t let any of that mislead you. Lindor is tough. We often talk five tools in baseball. But none of it matters without a vital sixth one — the ability to be on the field persistently. And Lindor gets on the field. Through a bad back and fractured finger and broken pinky toe.
