Fox News host Laura Ingraham defends ABC cancelling Jimmy Kimmel | US | News

Laura Ingraham has expressed her backing for ABC’s decision to axe Jimmy Kimmel’s show following his “incredibly reckless” remarks about Charlie Kirk.

On Wednesday, 10th September, Charlie was giving a speech at Utah Valley University when he was tragically shot by a sniper. He was immediately rushed to the hospital in critical condition, but later succumbed to his injuries.

Following the conservative activist’s death, many voiced their opinions on the incident across various platforms, leading to numerous sackings nationwide due to negative comments. While several outspoken Hollywood celebrities were “cancelled” for their views, none had experienced career repercussions until now. The news comes as MAGA is now ‘turbocharged’ in UK and Europe since Charlie Kirk’s brutal assassination.

The network’s decision sparked fury among the host’s fans. Some even planned to boycott ABC and Disney, prompting Laura to step up in defence of ABC.

During a recent segment on Fox News, she discussed the issue with Byron York.

She started, “Byron, to those who say, ‘Oh, this is cancel culture. Now you’re embracing cancel culture.’ I hit this last night, but I want to give you the chance to hit that ridiculously stupid retort to what we’re talking about.”, reports the Express US.

“The market is speaking in this case,” Bryan clarified. “And obviously making a joke – any joke – about this assassination at this time just seems to be incredibly reckless, and making one based on a libelous falsehood is even worse.”

Laura expressed that she doesn’t find anyone’s “jokes” on the subject amusing, stating they “they cease to connect with the American people.”

She suggested Kimmel and his colleagues should “go back and watch [Johnny] Carson and then maybe find their sense of humor.”

Jimmy Kimmel ‘prepared statement’ before show’s suspension over Charlie Kirk comments.

Kimmel’s controversial remark was made during the Monday, Sept. 15 segment of his late-night show, where he said, “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”

He went on to criticise President Trump’s reaction to the news of Kirk’s death.

Shortly after the broadcast, ABC announced that Jimmy Kimmel Live! would be suspended “indefinitely.”

The President of Nexstar Media issued a statement, writing, “Mr. Kimmel’s comments about the death of Mr. Kirk are offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse, and we do not believe they reflect the spectrum of opinions, views, or values of the local communities in which we are located.”
