Fortnite developer Epic Games is doing things a little differently with its Winterfest event in 2024.
Unlike previous years, it looks like Winterfest 2024 will launch with a special in-game event, most likely involving the huge block of ice defrosting in the island.
Fortnite Winterfest 2024 has a December 20 release date on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch and Android.
Winterfest will launch as part of an in-game event beginning at 8pm GMT UK time.
Chances are Winterfest will kick off with a special performance by the queen of Christmas Mariah Carey, although this is yet to be confirmed.
The Cabin will also make a return as part of Winterfest, complete with lots of festive gifts to open.
Even better is the ability to earn free items and rewards, including two free skins as part of Winterfest.
According to Fortnite insider Hypex, Santa Snoop Dogg and YuleJacket are the free Winterfest skins.
Other free Cabin rewards include festive guitars, sprays, Backpacks and even a tune or two.
Fans will be able to unlock the rewards until the event comes to an end on January 7. That’s over two weeks.
The launch of Winterfest will also coincide with the release of special items and weapons.
Fans will be able to equip a pair of wearable ice cubes, which will act like ice skates.
Lots of additional skins and cosmetics will be available from the item shop over the course of the Winterfest event.
This includes the Mariah Carey skin and Santa Shaq, as well as festive kicks and returning bundles including Nightmare Before Christmas.
The Fortnite Battle Royale map will also be covered in snow for the duration of the event.
