Fortnite fans are counting down to the release of update 33.11 on PS5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC and Android.
Almost certainly the final update of 2024, the new download adds the files for this year’s Winterfest event, as well as new challenges, rewards, and perhaps one of the most bizarre crossovers yet. (But more on that shortly.)
According to Epic Games, Fortnite update 33.11 has a December 18 release date on all platforms. It will be accompanied by a period of server downtime, which takes place at the later time of 12pm GMT UK time.
The news was announced by Epic Games on X: “Downtime for v33.11 begins at 7 AM ET with matchmaking ending shortly beforehand.”
There’s no word on when downtime will end, but expect the game to remain offline for around a couple of hours.
In terms of what fans can expect, the new update will lay the foundation for the Winterfest event, which runs from December 20 until January 7.
The event will feature a series of unique challenges and rewards, not to mention special Christmas decorations adorning the island and the return of the Cabin. According to the rumours, one of the rewards is a festive Snoop Dogg skin.
Needless to say, classic Winterfest weapons and items are also likely to be unvaulted for the event, while new items like Ice Skates will be added.
In one of the more bizarre crossovers, Epic is also teasing the release of a Skibidi Toilet bundle containing a Plungerman Outfit, Skibidi Backpack, Skibidi Toilet Back Blings and Plungerman’s Plunger Pickaxe. According to Shiina, the bundle will cost 2,200 V-Bucks.
Other potential crossovers include Pixar’s Cars, Cyberpunk 2077 and more Nike shoes.

GENERAL
• Low-resolution textures on Nintendo Switch
– We’re looking into a fix for low-resolution textures on Nintendo Switch. We’ll provide an update to this thread when we’ve resolved this issue.
• Incorrect Emote order in the Emote Wheel.
– Emotes assigned to the Emote Wheel may appear in the wrong order, i.e. the Wheel appears to be incorrectly rotated.
BATTLE ROYALE
• Daigo issuing incorrect Duel rewards.
– After being defeated in a Duel, Daigo offers a Common Holo Twister Assault Rifle or some Wood.
• Players may get stuck in “Toggle Walk” mode at times.
– Sometimes, players may see their character stuck in the “Toggle Walk” mode while trying to run or swim at an intended pace. Sprinting is not affected.
BALLISTIC
• Grey bubble texture may appear when affected by a Flashbang grenade.
– Players may see the incorrect visual effect after Flashbang explosion. This will be fixed in a future game update.
LEGO FORTNITE BRICK LIFE
• Floor items may not be placed on the second floor.
– If the player goes to the second floor of their Apartment and tries to place an item down on the floor, they may be unable to. Hanging Decor is not affected and can be placed as intended.
• Unable to place Decor or Furniture items in Houses or Lots.
– When the player selects a piece of Decor or Furniture and clicks on “Place”, the Build Menu might not pop up.
• Tricksters may not be able to place the Banana Peel prank.
– When using touch controls, players employed as Tricksters may be unable to place the Banana Peel prank on the designated spot.
• The Backpack icon is not present on the Map or Compass if it’s dropped too far from the respawn point or in a cave.
• The Storm King’s Portal may not be reactivated once the Storm King is defeated.
