One of the best things about staying in a hotel is the opportunity to enjoy a hotel buffet-style breakfast, which often have anything you could want and more.
If you’re particularly interested by a good, luxury hotel breakfast, you might have already seen Netflix’s Million Dollar Buffet documentary, which follows presenter Grace Dent as she visits extravagant all-you-can-eat buffets in luxury hotels. The documentary explores high-end buffets featuring expensive ingredients like wagyu beef and caviar.
One of the hotels that were featured was the Glass House at The Grove Hotel in Watford, located just northwest of London, which offers what has been described as one of the world’s finest buffets.
But how good can a buffet actually be? This was something that food enthusiast Grace Booth wanted to find out, as she brought her family with her to try it.
“Apparently this is the best breakfast buffet in England,” she said at the start of the video.
She went on to explain that she didn’t thing English breakfast buffets typically are that great, arguing that they focus too much on savoury options whereas she prefers more sweet options for her breakfast. However, she was willing to give it a try
As they got to the buffet, Grace went on to bring her camera along as she walked around to document all of the different food options that were available.
“Even the water and the juice looks so crispy,” she said as she started off by showiung the different drinks options, which also included freshly made smoothies along with the juices.
She then moved quickly along to show the granola and cereal bar, before showing off the big counter of fresh fruits, including different kinds of cut up melon and pineapple, as well as apples, pears, and oranges.
“There’s even two types of bacon,” she said as she got to the cooked food part, which also had every thing else you would want for a classic fry up breakfast.
Grave was then happy to see the counter filled with sweet pastries, muffins, doughnuts and other baked goods, before finding the fresh waffles and pancakes.
They also had lots of smoked fish, and charcuterie meats options. As for eggs, you could ask the staff to cook them however you want, including as egg benedict, eggs florentine, and eggs royale.
“They’ve even offered us baby cutlery,” she said as she revealed she’d ordered a ommelette for her baby to enjoy, which she later claimed was the best ommelette she’d ever tasted.
“I have to say, it is the best breakfast I have ever been to in England,” she went on to say as she’d gotten home. “Not in other countries, because other countries are doing it way better than England’s breakfast buffet game. But that one is unbelievable.”
The Glasshouse buffet is available for both residents and non-residents of the hotel, however it’s only available for hotel residents during the weekends. It costs £28 per person for residents, and £40 per person for non-residents.
