If you’re travelling by plane for your next holiday, it can be tricky to know what to wear. Jeans can feel super restrictive – but you don’t want to get cold if you wear shorts and sandals during the flight.
So if you’re facing this dilemma, listen up. TikTok user Cher, who has worked as a flight attendant for more than six years, recently shared her top tips and tricks with her 24,000 followers.
There are certain clothing items she warns people to leave in their suitcases instead of bringing them out for their travel days. In her informative video, she listed the: “Outfits I surprisingly approve of as a flight attendant.”
She’s a firm beliver that wearing shorts on a plane should be ‘illegal’ as it meant your legs would be touching the ‘gross’ seats on the plane – having prevously revealed they rarely get cleaned.
Flight attendant’s ideal travel outfit
Instead, Cher showed what she said was the ‘ideal’ outfit formula to decided what wear on a plane.
It consists of loose, comy trousers, trainers, a basic T-shirt and a jumper that covers your shoulders. This works for both men and women, as you can use any clothes from your wardrobe that fits the description.
“This is the perfect travel outfit no matter what,” she said.
It means you look good while also being comfy and protected from the ‘gross’ seats and often cold air on the plane.

Long dresses
The first thing on her list was long sundresses, as she said: “It looks so cute and put together”. She went on to recommend pairing it with some trainers and a jumper for when it gets cold.
“Any variation of a long dress like this is cute, and your legs are covered, they’re not touching the seat,” she added.
Long skirts
“Next up, I shockingly approve of long skirts too,” she added.
Sharing an example, she said: “Would I have my toes out? Absolutely not. But with sneakers, this would be perfect.”
Cher went on to say that any variations of a matching set with a long skirt and a top is a great look for if you want to look put together at the airport while also being comfortable.
