Flight attendant says never board plane without washing hair

If you’re contemplating boarding your flight without freshly  washed hair, then you may want to reconsider that decision.

A flight attendant has outlined the grooming measures that are crucial to undertake before you take to the skies.

Cabin crew member Sille Rydell revealed that cleansing your hair is amongst the actions you can take “for your seat-mate and yourself”.

Furthermore, she also disclosed what you should steer clear of wearing. She questioned: “Will it survive turbulence, tiny bathrooms, and 10 hours in the same seat?”

If you wish to travel with comfort and proper etiquette in mind, you should also consider adhering to nine pieces of guidance that have been endorsed by the flight attendant. These are:

1. Steer clear of flowy trousers or lengthy skirts

Sille revealed that if you don garments that make contact with the “bathroom floor,” then you may find yourself regretting it due to how revolting the floor can become.

2. Avoid potent fragrances

Everyone enjoys smelling pleasant. However, whilst your signature fragrance might be your favourite aroma in the world, Sille stated someone else might not value it as much.

She penned: “Smells linger in the cabin – and not everyone loves your signature scent at 38,000 feet, some people even have allergies”.

3. Do have a shower and wash your hair beforehand

Simply because you washed your hair three days prior and it still appears satisfactory isn’t a sufficient reason for Sille not to wash it once more.

She declared: “Dirty hair, no shower, no shame? A quick shower = the best pre-boarding ritual. Do it for your seatmate… and yourself”.

4. Do wear compression socks

If you’re on a “long haul flight,” Sille said you’re “missing out” if you don’t wear compression socks.

They assist in boosting blood flow in the legs through gentle pressure application, which can minimise swelling, ward off blood clot formation, and lower the chances of developing varicose veins.

Numerous travellers discover that donning compression socks helps ease sensations of fatigue or heaviness in the legs, particularly following prolonged standing or sitting periods.

5. Never go barefoot

“Just…please don’t. Especially not in the lavatory,” she fumed, explaining that going shoeless is revolting because you can never be entirely certain about what might be on the floor.

6. Don’t wear wired bras

Comfort remains paramount whilst aboard an aircraft, so “underwire + pressurised cabin for hours = major regret”.

Rather, Sille suggested that “soft and comfy” represents something you should choose every single time.

7. Don’t wear one-piece outfits

That all-in-one catsuit vibe might appear sleek and alluring for the nightclub, but not when you’re “half naked in a turbulence-shaking lavatory”.

Instead, choose something like a comfortable yet stylish tracksuit.

8. Avoid excessive jewellery and belts

Sille revealed that you should aim to “pack” your jewellery and belts rather than wearing them, as you might face security hold-ups if you’re sporting too much bling.

9. Don’t wear ultra-tight leggings and jeans

Leggings and jeans might appear incredibly stylish, but they’re not worth enduring discomfort during your journey.

Sille explained: “Cabin pressure makes your body bloat. That cute fit might feel like a full-body grip at cruising altitude.”

The cabin crew member concluded her advice by stating: “Stay comfy, practical, and a little bit prepared – and your future in-flight self will thank you”.
