Forecasters have sounded the alarm for severe storms poised to unleash damaging winds and flash flooding across the Bay, with conditions expected to deteriorate after 7pm and creep towards Delmarva.

The risk of tornadoes looms large, especially westward along the I-95 corridor, as volatility in weather patterns escalates.

A Flash Flood Warning is now in place for the regions of Washington DC, Arlington, and Alexandria in Virginia until 8:45 PM EDT, due to the imminent threat posed by the approaching storms.

Torrential downpours are forecasted, triggering urgent alerts from meteorologists for possible flash floods in low-lying and poor drainage zones.

Motorists are urged to steer clear of submerged streets and to immediately seek elevated terrain should the situation take a turn for the worse, reports the Mirror US.

Emergency Alert

In a critical update, the National Weather Service has issued a statement: “TORNADO WARNING in this area until 7:00 PM EDT.”

They warn anyone in the affected area to “Take shelter now in a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris. Check media.”

Additional Details

They further instruct: “TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.”

Texas flash floods killed 104

San Antonio, Texas, was enveloped in grief as a candlelight vigil was held on Monday night to remember the victims of the devastating flash floods that struck over the Fourth of July weekend.

The calamity resulted in the tragic loss of over 100 lives, including numerous children who were at summer camps along the Guadalupe River.

In a poignant display of mourning, families and community members came together in a silent homage to those who perished in one of the most lethal weather-related disasters Texas has seen in years.

Centro expressed their condolences on Instagram, stating: “We stand in solidarity with our neighbors across Texas, especially in times of tragedy and loss,” and emphasised the importance of unity not only in joy but also in adversity with “Unity isn’t just for times of celebration; it’s essential during times of hardship.”

The aftermath of the flash floods near San Antonio has prompted an extensive search and rescue effort, while raising concerns about the authorities’ readiness and reaction speed.

The deluge on Friday saw a month’s worth of rain pour down within hours, wreaking havoc on the region and leading to the loss of over 100 lives, many of whom were children from local summer camps.

As further rainfall is expected on Monday, officials have issued warnings about the persistent and severe flood risk in areas already drenched by the recent storms. Rescue teams are tirelessly working to locate those still missing, and communities are steeling themselves against the threat of additional flooding.

Stay updated.

Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and monitor updates as the situation unfolds.

Keep an eye out for further updates as the storms continue to evolve.
