However, while the couple are happy at the property, rumours have been swirling for well over a year about Andrew’s future at Royal Lodge, especially as he has not been a working royal for some time.

This is a result of allegations made against him following his past friendship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein – allegations the prince has always strongly denied – and his disastrous Newsnight interview in 2019.

While the late Queen, who took Andrew’s titles from him, did not seem to mind her son staying on at Royal Lodge, it is believed the now King Charles, 76, feels differently.

Over the last year, the monarch has made various attempts to get Andrew to downsize from the mansion to another royal home, even going as far as to withdraw funding for security on the estate.
