Sarah Ferguson has referred to her role as carer of the late Queen’s corgis as the “greatest honour”. Following the late monarch’s death in September 2022, it was revealed that Sarah – who was previously married to Prince Andrew – wouldtake over looking after Sandy and Muick.
Taking to her Instagram account, Sarah posted a video of her speaking at the Creative Women Platform Forum about her late mother-in-law and about looking after the adorable corgis. Speaking on stage, she said: “I have her dogs. I have her corgis. So every morning they come in and go, you know, woof woof and all that. I swear it’s her talking to me.”
Discussing the late Queen, she added: “The real thing, is that I had the greatest honour to be her daughter-in-law.”
Speaking about her journey to the venue, Sarah said that she spotted the Elizabeth Line – a tube network line that was named in her honour and opened in May 2022.
In the caption of her post, Sarah wrote, “It was a pleasure to join so many inspiring women at the Creative Women Platform Forum.”
She added: “We gathered to celebrate the vital role women play in shaping a more sustainable, innovative and compassionate world. I was especially proud to reflect on the incredible example set by Her Late Majesty The Queen.”
Writing of the late Queen, she added: “A guiding light in my life, and for so many others around the world”, followed by a purple heart emoji.
In an previous interview with The Sunday Times, Sarah revealed the late Queen’s final words that she said to her.
Sarah, who is mum to Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, said that the late monarch said to her; “Sarah, remember that yourself is good enough.”
“She knew me all my life and she loved me,” the Duchess of York also revealed.
