A 13-year-old boy tragically lost his life following a horrific incident in north Manchester on Sunday evening (June 8), after desperately seeking help at a nearby house, according to witnesses.
Emergency services were called to Nevin Road in New Moston around 5pm, resulting in the residential street being cordoned off. A police cordon was also established near the Fairway Inn pub.
Local residents believe the young victim was stabbed before he managed to run, despite his severe injuries, to a nearby house for assistance.
Greater Manchester Police have now initiated a murder investigation. Currently, three suspects are in custody in connection with the incident.
A Nevin Road resident told the MEN of the chilling moment the injured lad stumbled into his home, apparently escaping his assailants, repeatedly uttering ‘I don’t want to die’.
“He just came through the door and said ‘I’ve been stabbed’. We sat him down on a chair and phoned an ambulance,” he shared.
“He just kept saying ‘I don’t want to die’.”
The resident revealed that bystanders performed CPR on the boy until the police arrived and secured the area. The victim’s family is currently receiving support from specialist officers.
Forensic teams in white suits were also seen at the scene, with CSI vans stationed on Nevin Road and outside the Fairway Inn pub. An air ambulance was dispatched following the incident, landing in nearby Nuthurst Park.
A major murder investigation is underway, with detectives urgently calling for witnesses who were in the vicinity at about 5pm to come forth as they attempt to unravel the tragic event.
Superintendent Marcus Noden commented: “This is a distressing and heart-breaking incident where a boy has lost his life. We are still trying to establish the circumstances around the incident and have a number of scenes in place.”
He also implored: “Officers are looking for information or eye witness accounts from anyone who was in the Nevin Road area of New Moston at around 5pm today quoting log 2250 of 8/6/25.

Noden assured the public: “We will bring updates as we get them as the investigation continues.”
