The Reform UK leader has called billionaire Elon Musk a “bloody hero” after discussing links with the businessman.
Farage told The Telegraph that he is pinning his hopes on Musk.
This week, many watched to see if Reform’s membership tracker would hit 131,680 at which point it would be bigger than the Conservative Party – it did hit the magic number.
Kemi Badenoch labelled the achievement “smoke and mirrors”, pulled off with algorithmic voodoo with Reform threatening to sue her for libel.
Farage has run for Parliament eight times, finally winning Clacton back in July with 46 per cent of the vote.
The Reform leader has made use of social media to increase his following but the party needs to understand more about their voter data, something which other parties have access to.
Reform needs to gather vast amounts of information, something which Elon Musk could help with.
Farage told The Telegraph: “Data is the absolute truth, and that process is beginning… Why do you think we’re taking the county council elections next year so seriously?
“We now have 1,250 candidates for next year’s locals, who have been rigorously scrutinised, and I mean rigorously: 43 per cent rejections… We’ve said ‘You’re lovely, but you’ve used the f-word way too often on X.
“We may have been too strict but we know the focus on us will be much more intense than on anyone else.”
Farage spoke about Elon Musk’s role in UK politics, he said: “I’m hoping he gives us the blueprint, and the blueprint is how to cut the administrative state.”
The rumour that he was planning to donate £100 million to Reform was “complete nonsense… We did go to Mar-a-Lago” – Trump’s home in Florida – “he will give a donation, a reasonable sized donation, but it will need to be legal or above board.”
However, he added that everyone misses the point when it comes to Elon Musk and that it isn’t about the money but his “kudos” with young people and added: “He’s a bloody hero.”
