Fans are insisting that a homemade pizza recipe tastes “better than Domino’s” after a side-by-side taste test. Joshua Weissman shared his recipe with 10.1million subscribers on YouTube which he claimed is “better” than the fast-food favourite, after trying the two with a friend.
The pizza, which makes three portions and cooks in 15 minutes, is something he believes “even my younger self would have preferred” and the video has since gained more than 98,000 likes. When sampling the finished product, he gushed over its “depth of flavour” before concluding: “If you think this didn’t win, you’re out of your mind.” One viewer replied: “Josh, this pizza changed my pizza game forever. I can finally stop ordering takeaways. Saving money as well. Forever grateful.”
Another claimed it was the “best homemade pizza” they had ever eaten, and added they had been “looking for something like this for a long time”.
To make the dough, Josh explains you have to mix 570g of Tipo “OO” flour, which is a finely ground Italian flour, with one and a half tablespoons of sugar, and two teaspoons of fine sea salt.
In a separate bowl, you whisk together 354ml of water at 35C with two and a quarter teaspoons of yeast.
After this, you knead it into a dough, and then place it in a greased bowl covered by plastic wrap and put it in the fridge overnight.
He then explains you should stretch it one portion of the dough inside a 10-inch cast iron pan coated with olive oil, without tearing it, then let it rest for 10 minutes and repeat the process until the dough reaches the edge.
You can get started adding the sauce and cheese and a drizzle of oil after it has been left to proof at room temperature for two to three hours.
It takes 15-20 minutes to bake, “or until the cheese is melted, the crust is deeply golden brown and crispy on the edges and bottom”.
To finish you can brush the crust with garlic butter, or add a drizzle of spicy honey or parmesan.
