Europe is set to get a brand new incredible theme park to compete with Disneyland Paris and it is opening at the end of May. Hossoland is a fairytale-themed adventure land, opening on the northern coast of Poland on May 31. The park will be centered around a lighthouse and its attractions are inspired by local Baltic legends and fairytales.
The four lands that make up the park include the Dragon Valley of the Mines, the Land of the Vikings, the Kingdom of Baltambrya and Mermaid City. Plans for the massive park were first announced in 2017 and it’s hoping to rival some of Europe’s largest theme amusement parks. Hossoland will span 400,000sq m/430,556sq ft with 50 rides with GhostRider, a steel coaster, the park’s standout attraction. The new multi-million pound rollercoaster will stretch 53m/176ft in the air taking guests on a thrilling ride at speeds of 72mph/115kmph.
Karen Hovsepyan, vice president of the park’s operator Hosso Group, told Planet Attractions: “Hossoland will be the only amusement park of such a large scale on the Polish coast.”
It’s hoped that the park will soon welcome one million tourists per year and was supposed to open in Spring last year but was delayed until 2025
Ms Hovsepyan also highlighted the park’s unique position on the Polish coast and added: “The location not only makes it a standout attraction within Poland but also a key destination for residents of nearby Berlin, promising to boost regional tourism significantly.”
The attraction will also have 20 different food and drink areas within the park so you find something for even the fussiest eater.
Beyond the initial theme park, the Hosso Group has ambitious plans for further development and already planning to add a waterpark and additional themed lands post-opening.
For theme park loving Brits who want to visit Hossoland the closest airport is Szczecin. Brits can book direct flights with Ryanair from both Liverpool and London. Then the park is about an hour’s drive from the airport or under a three hour drive from Berlin.
But it is not the only new theme park set to open in Europe in 2025 to give Disneyland Paris a run for its money.
Bommelwerald is an indoor theme park based on the Dutch comic characters Tom Poes and Ollie B.Bommel, beloved characters created by cartoonist Marten Toonderand.
It will have 18 attractions across a 9,000 sqm/96,875 sqft site, including a mini flume ride and a climbing tower and is due to open its doors later this year.
Visitors will enter the park through a castle and can then explore different themed areas, including the Dark Tree Forest and an inventors’ section.
The director, Edwin Bomers, has said visitors will “feel like they’re outside” in the “weatherproof” indoor adventure land as everything will be ‘lit up” so they can’t see the roof. The park has yet to announce a firm opening date.
Europa-Park is the largest theme park in Europe and the second most popular theme park resort on the continent, following Disneyland Paris. Europa-Park is located in Rust, in south-western Germany, between Freiburg and Strasbourg, France.
