Lewis Hamilton enjoyed a perfect start to the Las Vegas Grand Prix weekend, topping the timing screens in FP1 as Mercedes adapted perfectly to the slippery track surface.
The seven-time world champion was almost four-tenths faster than team-mate George Russell in P2 with Lando Norris in third. Championship leader Max Verstappen was down in fifth on a critical weekend for his title bid.
The Dutchman heads into Sunday’s Grand Prix with a 62-point lead over title rival Norris. If he leaves Sin City with a 60-point lead or greater, he will be crowned a four-time world champion.
