Prince Harry has been urged to not consider setting up a rival to compete with Sentebale now that he is no longer part of the charity. Harry, 40, set up the charity alongside the Prince Seeiso of Lesotho in 2006.
Launched in honour of the late Princess Diana, the chartity was set up to help young people and children in southern Africa, particularly those living with HIV and Aids. The royal, who stepped down from royal duties in 2020, made the decision to step away after a boardroom row with the charity’s chairwoman, Sophie Chandauka, which included various “claims and counter-claims of racism, bullying and mismanagement”.
The Charity Commission revealed back in April that it had opened a regulatory compliance case into Sentebale and has now released its findings, which clear Harry of any allegations towards him.
In a poll conducted by the Express, which ran between on 11.20am on August 6 and 1pm on August 8, readers were asked whether they thought Harry should launch a rival charity.
Of the 3,552 readers who voted, a staggering 3,258 people [92 percent] shared that Harry should not consider the idea at all.
In contrast, 233 people [6 percent] shared that Harry could use it as his next move, whereas 61 people [2 percent] were unsure on the idea.
Taking to the comment section, many fans were questioning why he would consider setting up a rival.
One fan commented: “If Harry initiates a competitive charity, he will confirm his vengeful nature. A charity endeavor should never come from such a negative place.”
A second wrote: “I think not if he tries to start up another one then it will just show how petty he is, just my thought.”
Also clearly sharing their vote, another wrote: “No? Harry needs to walk away now. His and others behaviour is appalling he should not be near any charities.’
