A UK explorer was left heartbroken after discovering an abandoned house in the Welsh hills, a sight that has become all too familiar. Adam Mark, known for his social media presence as Adam Mark Explores, is a renowned urban explorer who shares his findings of deserted locations across the country.
His latest discovery in Wales has left him and his followers deeply moved. He stumbled upon a forsaken property tucked away in the wilderness, and set about unravelling the history of the house based on his own research. In a TikTok video, he reveals the tragic tale of the “old Mr Davies” abandoned home, nestled in the Welsh mountains.
It’s believed that Mr Davies, thought to be the previous owner, was left alone in the property following the death of his wife. The dilapidated house stands as a testament to their love story and his struggle to cope with her loss, suggesting it’s one of many abandoned homes harbouring a truly compelling narrative.
In the video, the explorer invites viewers to join him on his journey, saying: “Have you ever wondered what happens to a home after the occupants pass away? Come and explore one of these homes with me.
“Abandoned for over 60 years, the owner was a farmer who fought in the war, and his wife was a nurse. They lived a basic life here for many years together until his wife passed away, leaving the old veteran alone here.”
He added: “He led a solitary and lonely life afterwards. His children visited, but it was never the same for Mr Davies. One winter he fell ill and became bedridden.
“Whilst alone, one night he closed his eyes and slipped away from this world, hopefully joining his soulmate in the next.”
The entire account’s authenticity remains unclear, yet this represents what the urban explorer believes unfolded at the residence, resulting in his deeply distressing find within. The tale strikes such a chord perhaps because countless personal items remain scattered throughout, each telling fragments of the former inhabitants’ lives.
Despite sections of the dwelling lying in ruins, furniture and seating remain strewn across the premises. Vintage photographs still adorn the walls, whilst monochrome snapshots – including matrimonial portraits and family memories – are dispersed around the residence.
Two vacant seats sit side by side, possibly once occupied by the couple who formerly called this place home. Additionally, an unused kettle rests upon the table whilst a cupboard brimming with belongings continues to stand in one room.
A pair of footwear can be spotted beside one seat, though when they were last worn remains a mystery. Countless memories, yet immense sorrow, permeate the haunting picture this dwelling presents.
Multiple viewers have endorsed the footage since its publication, with numerous individuals offering remarks. Several acknowledged the account as genuinely devastating.
One viewer commented: “You bring the experience to us. Much appreciated. The work you put in is next level. Thank you.”
Another chimed in with: “Just imagine if you had the money and resources to restore it. Such a shame. A lot of these houses are the same, but I guess it would make ghost hunters redundant.”
A third responded: “Beautiful home. The Welsh ones are always my favourite.” Meanwhile, a fourth added: “So beautiful, but so sad.”
