Exact date set for Rishi Sunak's double by-election nightmare

Rishi Sunak is heading for a potential Valentine’s Day massacre as voters in two crunch by-elections learn the day they will go to the polls.

The Government has just confirmed that both the Wellingborough by-election and the Kingswood by-election will take place on February 15.

The Wellingborough by-election was sparked by the suspension of veteran Tory MP Peter Bone on bullying and sexual harassment grounds.

Kingswood was forced on the PM after senior Conservative MP Chris Skidmore quit the Commons in opposition to Government plans to expand oil drilling

Despite only being Prime Minister for 14 months, it’s not the first time Mr Sunak has faced multiple by-elections on the same day.

In July last year voters in Uxbridge, Selby and Somerton all voted, dealing two Tory defeats to the new Prime Minister.

More to come…
