He said: “We thought that the Queen would be there forever. We thought that she’d be at least 100, we thought that she’d live to be as old as her mother.
“I think that because of her passing and at the same time, I was reflecting on my own mortality and thought that I might not have much longer to write this down, so I better get it done.
I spent hours just actually pouring my feelings down onto paper. Life is just a tapestry of memories and then it’s over.”
Revealing his reason, he added: “I wanted to share mine before it’s too late.”
Speaking of both the late Queen, died in 2022, and Diana, who died in 1997, Paul also descibed the two royals as “incredible and inspirational”.
Sharing what the Queen meant to him, he added: “[The late Queen] saved me from myself. When I was just a young lad coming to London, I didn’t know anything about life.”
Recalling his 11 years working for the late monarch, he added: “She looked after me and for that I’ll be forever grateful. She also looked after so many other people behind the scenes.”
