The Princess of Wales sparked a huge royal fan frenzy today after Kensington Palace announced her return to this year’s Christmas Carol concert.

Princess Kate will host her annual Christmas carol concert in early December, with the service reflecting on “how much we need each other, especially in the most difficult times of our lives”.

Kate, who is recovering from a form of cancer, is going ahead with her televised festive event at Westminster Abbey on December 6, Kensington Palace announced.

The Palace said the future Queen particularly wanted the service’s theme to celebrate those supporting others in need, with a focus on the importance of love and empathy.

Royal fans went wild after a short video to accompany the announcement was posted on the Prince and Princess of Wales’s official social media accounts.

Several of them thanked the princess for bringing back her Christmas Carol concert, while others shared their excitement for the key royal event.

One user wrote on X: “So excited! Thank you Catherine and her wonderful staff for making this happen this year!”

A second one said: “You always set the right tone for us at Christmas. Thank you for bringing us together at Christmas again.”

Another one added: “Thank you for doing this again! It’s my favourite royal event of the year.”

A fourth one commented: “I absolutely love this tradition and I can’t wait for this year’s Christmas Carol service.”

A fifth one chimed: “Extremely excited, because this year everything will be special for us and for you.”

A sixth one agreed: “Omg such wonderful news! I’m so excited to see our beautiful Princess of Wales return to Westminster Abbey with her family for her incredible Christmas Carol Service! I’m sure it will be a beautiful evening as always.”

It will be the fourth time Kate has staged her Together At Christmas carol service, which is supported by The Royal Foundation.

The event will be filmed and broadcast as part of a special programme on ITV1 and ITVX on Christmas Eve.

Kate will be joined by members of the Royal Family as some 1,600 people fill the abbey in London to see musical performances by stars including Paloma Faith, Olivia Dean and Gregory Porter.

Among the invited guests will be those who have supported others, either on a personal level with friends and family, or through their work or volunteering.
