Everton announce ‘worst stadium name of all time’ for new Bramley Moore Dock home | Football | Sport

Everton have announced that their new stadium will be called the Hill Dickinson Stadium, much to the amusement of rival supporters. David Moyes’ side will leave Goodison Park at the end of the season, with the final match at the iconic stadium taking place this weekend when they host Southampton on Sunday.

Liverpool-based legal firm Hill Dickinson have reached an agreement to be the first naming rights sponsor of Everton’s new stadium situated at Bramley-Moore Dock. However, the announcement of the ground’s name has caused a stir online.

Everton announced the agreement with a tweet which read: “Everton Football Club is proud to announce Hill Dickinson as the official naming rights partner for the Club’s new stadium, in a long-term agreement that will see the iconic venue named Hill Dickinson Stadium.”

The tweet prompted a series of critical responses, with one user (@BrentfordHive) asking: “Worst stadium name ever?” and another (@the0th3rside_) adding: “Horrendous name. Cue headloss.”

X user @EvertonBlueArmy wrote: “Nah seriously what a terrible name”, whilst another user (@the0th3rside_) added: “Horrendous name. Cue headloss,” alluding to some Everton supporters being left unhappy with name.

One supporter (@efckyle_) joked: “April fools day was last month lads,” whilst others pointed at how the stadium will be mocked by some rival fans, with @h_army360 writing: “Gonna get absolutely ripped for that name hahaha.”

Nevertheless, Everton CEO Angus Kinnear has welcomed the deal, saying: “Welcoming Hill Dickinson as our naming rights partner is a bold and strategic step forward. This partnership goes beyond branding — it’s a shared commitment to progress, excellence and the regeneration of our city. Hill Dickinson Stadium will stand as a symbol of Everton’s ambitions, our values, and the global future we are building together.”

Hill Dickinson CEO Craig Scott added: “To put our name to Everton’s new stadium is a once-in-a-generation opportunity. We believe deeply in what this project stands for — a bold, transformational vision for Liverpool and its future. This partnership is about legacy, ambition and the power of two globally recognised organisations coming together to make a difference.

“As Hill Dickinson continues to grow internationally, we remain proud of our Liverpool roots — and we are honoured to be part of one of the most exciting waterfront developments in Europe.”
