An evacuation warning has been issued near Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Montecito home as heavy rain is expected to hit the area. The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office has sent out evacuation warnings in some burn fire scar areas.
This includes the areas in and below the Gifford and Lake Fire Burn Scars, just a short distance from Montecito. According to the National Weather Service, short bursts of heavy rain are expected throughout the county.
This warning was in place for Monday night through to Tuesday day.
It has been reported that residents have also been warned of potential high winds and thunderstorms, with a possibility of tornadoes.
The Santa Barbara Independent reports: “Debris flows, rockslides, a potential for flooded roads and highways, and heavy traffic during the Tuesday morning commute are all part of the forecast that predicts from 0.75 to 4 inches of rain in parts of Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Los Angeles counties.
“As well as being prepared to evacuate if below a burn scar, residents are advised to be ready for power outages, falling trees, and localized flooding.
“The storm is expected to reduce to showers by Wednesday, followed by dry, strong gusts of wind out of the northwest and northeast.”
