Eurovision fans in shock as UK song – 'our best ever' – sounds like Queen

Eurovision fans have been left speechless after their first listen to the UK’s 2025 entry – branding it the “best ever” and comparing it to legendary rock band Queen.

The country-pop trio, comprised of best friends Charlotte, Holly and Lauren, announced their Eurovision bid on The Scott Mills Breakfast Show earlier this year. Now their official Eurovision single, What the Hell Just Happened?, has been released with an accompanying music video.

The song tells the story of a night out with friends gone wrong, with the girls waking up with new tattoos and a mystery of how they ended up there. They co-wrote the song with Billen Ted (Tom Hollings and Sam Brennan), Thomas Stengaard and Julie ‘Kill J’ Aagaard.

Fans are going wild for the track, with one gushing: “Okay, okay, the UK is doing its thing. Queen mixed with Little Mix!” Another echoed: “This is a very original choice for a country like the United Kingdom. And the fact that it is a trio representing this country is even more interesting! Good luck UK!”

Somebody else posted: “If they can do the harmonies as beautifully as they do in their videos I think the jury will love it.”

And another commenter posted: “Giving me a Queen vibe. Their vocals are so good!” A different user said: “As someone from the UK who usually hates our entries I have to say I love this.”

Remember Monday originally appeared on The Voice UK, before releasing singles including What the Girls’ Bathroom is For and Prove Me Right.

Sam Ryder achieved one of the UK’s highest ever scores in 2022, placing second in the competition with his track Spaceman, while Ukraine took home the trophy. In 2023, Liverpool hosted the contest – the ninth time the UK got to host – due to the ongoing conflict with Russia.
