Erin Andrews was part of one of the most memorable 2000s NFL moments.

In 2014, Andrews conducted a postgame interview with Seahawks defensive star Richard Sherman after the NFC Championship game. The Seahawks defeated the 49ers 23-17 in a heated showdown that sent Seattle to the Super Bowl.

Sherman, riled up from the final minutes of the game, yelled his response to Andrews’ question.

“Well, I’m the best corner in the game! When you try me with a sorry receiver like [Michael] Crabtree, that’s the result you gon’ get! Don’t you ever talk about me!” Sherman said.

There were several reactions to the live interview on Fox Sports, with some viewers speculating that Andrews was offended by Sherman’s tone. Her followup question to Sherman — “Who was talking about you?” — led many viewers to believe she was clueless over the situation or fighting with Sherman.

But more than a decade later, Andrews has labeled the incident as one of the craziest things that has happened to her on the NFL sidelines. In a recent appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Andrews addressed the misconceptions surrounding the viral interview.

“He made a game-saving play. I interviewed him about the play, and he just went off about the other player. People took it like he was screaming at me. First of all, I could kill my whole delivery with him. I had this face, where I was like this and people took it like he was scaring me,” Andrews said.

“No, I was thinking to myself holy s–t what is my next question because it better be good ’cause this is going viral, and it did. There were Halloween costumes made about, Barack Obama talked about it in his speech, it was wild. It was one of the coolest things.”

Andrews has remained a familiar face on the NFL sidelines but has been open about the challenges women face in sports media.

Andrews, who joined Fox in 2012 after a stint with ESPN, said building relationships with players comes with experience.

“Listen, it’s taken us a minute to get where we are,” said Andrews on a 2025 episode of the “Calm Down” podcast. “You have to build up credibility… with not only with viewers at home, your bosses and also, the players and the coaches. You can’t go into things when you first start with any job like, ‘Oh my god!’ People will look at you and be like,’ You’re an a–hole.’
