It’s time to dust off the ol’ Fender.
Eric Clapton just announced his first Crossroads Guitar Festival in three years.
This time, the Rock Hall of Famer is bringing a number of the world’s most gifted virtuosos to Austin, TX’s Moody Center for two days of shredding, solos, jams and grooves on Sept. 26-27.
Just a few of the biggest names joining him come fall include Phish’s Trey Anastasio, seven-time Grammy winner John Mayer, The Who’s axeman Pete Townshend, soon-to-be 90-year-old bluesman/”Sinners” icon Buddy Guy and ZZ Top rocker/Texas native Billy Gibbons.
They’ll be joined by Joe Bonamassa, Gary Clark Jr., Tedeschi Trucks Band, Jimmie Vaughan and Marcus King.
Including the former Cream/Yardbirds/Derek and the Dominoes member, 26 artists will perform over the autumnal weekend.
According to Clapton’s Instagram, this edition marks the 7th festival…celebrating 28 years of the Crossroads Antigua [Clapton’s charity rehab center]. The two-night event will feature main stage performances and once-in-a-lifetime collaborations from some of the world’s greatest guitarists across genres.”
In an emphatic recap of the 2023 fest, Blues Rock Review noted “…Eric Clapton’s set earned the biggest ovation of the night and included staples like ‘Tears In Heaven,’ ‘I Shot The Sheriff,’ and an acoustic version of ‘Layla.’ Clapton brought out surprise guest Stevie Wonder in a true Crossroads moment as they closed the set with ‘Crossroads.’”
On top of the two-day musical extravaganza, the 81-year-old Clapton will also headline at six arenas all over North America from Sept. 6-17.
Notable stops include Chicago’s United Center (Sept. 11), Milwaukee’s Fiserv Forum (Sept. 13) and St. Paul’s Grand Casino Arena (Sept. 15).
Tickets officially go on sale to the general public on Friday, April 3 at 10 am local time through Ticketmaster but are available now on trusted secondary market sites like StubHub and Vivid Seats.

Eric Clapton new music
On Oct. 4, 2024, Clapton released his 22nd studio album “Meanwhile.”
The record, his first non-holiday effort since 2016, is a laid-back, bluesy affair featuring high-profile collaborators like Van Morrison, Bradley Walker and the late Jeff Beck.
For those who have yet to hear the offering, we suggest starting with the stunning, high-flying cover of “Moon River” (with Beck), jaunty stomper “One Woman” and fiery “Stand and Deliver” (with Van Morrison).
