England squad decided: Grealish recalled as Tuchel favourite left out | Football | Sport

As far as international breaks go, this won’t be the most testing for Thomas Tuchel’s England, meaning it could give him a chance to experiment with a couple of players who might be on the fringe of the squad. One of those is Nico O’Reilly, who has excelled for Manchester City since the September break.

Expect team-mate Phil Foden to return to the fold as well, with Jude Bellingham also back in the squad. Finally, the only big change from the previous squad is the inclusion of Bukayo Saka, who appears to be fit and firing after a couple of weeks out injured.

Goalkeepers: Jordan Pickford, James Trafford, Dean Henderson

Defenders: Reece James, Marc Guehi, John Stones, Dan Burn, Ezri Konsa, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Nico O’Reilly, Djed Spence.

Midfielders: Elliot Anderson, Morgan Gibbs-White, Jordan Henderson, Adam Wharton, Phil Foden, Declan Rice, Jude Bellingham.

Forwards: Harry Kane, Eberechi Eze, Jarrod Bowen, Anthony Gordon, Bukayo Saka, Marcus Rashford, Ollie Watkins.

Jack McEachen

Jack Grealish’s renaissance at Everton has more than earned him a spot back in Thomas Tuchel’s squad.

However, Morgan Rogers misses out as a result, which may not be a terrible idea, as he and Ollie Watkins can spend some time on the training ground and rest after a discouraging start to the season.

Harry Maguire is back in, despite Manchester United’s fragility this season. His leadership is immeasurable and he has rarely put a foot wrong for England.

He can fill the void left by Jordan Henderson, who has been a favourite of Tuchel, but his moment in the sun has passed and it is time for the next generation to stake their claim. Ethan Nwaneri will be an England star in the future and even if he does not step foot on the pitch, spending time with the senior squad can only benefit the Arsenal wonderkid.

Goalkeepers: Jordan Pickford, Dean Henderson, Nick Pope

Defenders: Reece James, Djed Spence, John Stones, Marc Guehi, Harry Maguire, Dan Burn, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Lewis Hall

Midfielders: Jude Bellingham, Declan Rice, Ethan Nwaneri, Curtis Jones, Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton, Eberechi Eze, Phil Foden

Forwards: Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford, Jarrod Bowen, Anthony Gordon, Jack Grealish, Bukayo Saka

It’s an attack-heavy squad but it’s time to bring back Jack Grealish. He’s enjoying himself at Everton so let’s see how that translates back in the England set-up.

Adam Wharton has to return because Thomas Tuchel doesn’t have another player like him. Tino Livramento’s absence frees a space for Lewis Hall, even though he plays on the opposite side.

Morgan Rogers misses out for Phil Foden but mainly because he looks like he needs a break after a tough start to the season.

Goalkeepers: Jordan Pickford, Dean Henderson, James Trafford

Defenders: Reece James, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Djed Spence, John Stones, Marc Guehi, Ezri Konsa, Dan Burn, Lewis Hall

Midfielders: Declan Rice, Jude Bellingham, Jordan Henderson, Adam Wharton, Elliot Anderson, Morgan Gibbs-White, Phil Foden

Forwards: Harry Kane, Ollie Watkins, Bukayo Saka, Jarrod Bowen, Anthony Gordon, Jack Grealish, Eberechi Eze, Marcus Rashford
