England Lionesses are champions of Europe, after overcoming Spain in a dramatic encounter that went the full distance.
Sarina Weigman’s troops came out on top in a tense penalty shootout, beating the favourites in a match that will go down as an all-time classic.
Chloe Kelly came off the bench in the match, created the equaliser and eventually tucked away the decisive penalty. Express Sport runs the rule over the player ratings…
Hannah Hampton 7
Big stops to deny Gonzalez and Pina but didn’t have a chance with Caldentey’s header.
Lucy Bronze 5
Couldn’t get near her forward for Spain’s opener and lost her edge later after a yellow card.
Leah Williamson 7
Distribution from the back was always going to be a factor and she helped relieve pressure when needed.
Jess Carter 6
One important block in the first half along with one nervy moment which went unpunished.
Alex Greenwood 6
Some sharp moments from an attacking standpoint, got better defensively as game progressed.
Keira Walsh 6
Always England’s calmest player on the ball but struggled to snuff out Spain’s midfield threat.
Georgia Stanway 6
Faced a tough midfield battle but fought well and played her part in build-up to the equaliser.
Lauren James – 5
Wasn’t herself on and off the ball and injury brought an early end to her day before half-time.
Ella Toone 6
Did what she could to press from the front but had few opportunities on the ball.
Lauren Hemp 7
So close to an opener after fashioning a chance all by herself and helped neutralise Carmona’s attacking threat.
Alessia Russo 8
Selfless running was key, unlucky not to put England in front early on and deserved her goal
