Emma Raducanu has added another tournament to her schedule as she bids to fine-tune her game ahead of Wimbledon. The British No. 2 is already set to compete in the new WTA 500 event at London’s Queen’s Club in the first week of the grass season, and she has now taken a wildcard into the Berlin Tennis Open the following week.
Tournament organisers announced the news in a press conference on Wednesday. Along with Raducanu, Naomi Osaka and German star Eva Lys have also received wildcards. The Berlin Tennis Open is another WTA 500 event, giving Raducanu the chance to get some extra matches and ranking points before heading back home for Wimbledon.
Raducanu had a strong grass swing last year – she reached the semi-final in Nottingham and the quarter-final in Eastbourne before making it into the second week of Wimbledon, and she will hope to repeat her heroics in 2025.
The world No. 43 is part of a strong field in Berlin, with nine of the world’s top 10 signed up to play. Iga Swiatek is the only player inside the top 10 that has not appeared on the entry list.
World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, recent Italian Open winner Jasmine Paolini, and defending champion Jessica Pegula are all set to head to Berlin from June 14 to 22.
Before making her debut in Berlin, Raducanu will return to home soil at Queen’s. It’s the first time in more than 50 years that a WTA Tour will be staged in London.
