Emma Raducanu gets painful Wimbledon draw as Brits given worrying routes | Tennis | Sport

The Wimbledon draw has been completedand Emma Raducanu will begin her campaign with a Battle of Britain against Welsh teenager Mimi Xu. The British No.1 would then face a tricky second round tie against No.32 seed McCartney Kessler or former champion Marketa Vondrousova in the second round, with world No.1 and title favourite Aryna Sabalenka potentially awaiting in round three.

World No.308 Xu, 17, reached the French Open juniors semi-finals in 2023 and is playing her first Wimbledon on a wildcard.

Fellow teenage wildcard Hannah Klugman, 16, will play 2021 US Open finalist and No.29 seed Leylah Fernandez.

And last year’s US Open girls’ champion Mika Stojsavljevic, 16, will take on No.31 seed Ashley Krueger.

British No.2 seed Katie Boulter faces a tough opening match against Spanish No.9 seed Paula Badosa.

Wildcard Harriet Dart will face Hungarian Dalma Galfi while Jodie Burrage takes on American Caty McNally.

Heather Watson will face Denmark’s No.23 seed Clara Tauson and Fran Jones play Ukraine’s Yuliia Starodubtseva.

World No.1 Sabalenka will open her bid for a first Wimbledon title against qualifier Carson Branstine of Canada.

Sonay Kartal takes on No.20 seed Jelena Ostapenko to see half of the ten British women in the draw will be facing seeds.
