Former Olympian and Celebrity MasterChef champion Greg Rutherford shared an innovative way to eat eggs, which is fun for all the family. Greg has entertained his social media followers over the past couple of years with regular egg recipes, whipped up for his daughter Daphne.
In a recent Instagram post, Greg revealed his take on ‘cloud eggs’, which he described as a “really fun and simple way to change up your egg game”. Cloud eggs are made by baking whipped egg whites to create a fluffy, cloud-like base, then nestling an egg yolk in the centre before baking again until the yolk is cooked to the desired consistency. They get their name due to their resemblance to clouds.
Greg wrote in the post: “A really fun and simple way to change up your egg game. Daphne’s obsessed, and with her egg credentials, that must mean they’re good.”
He said: “I doubt you’ve ever seen eggs done this way before, but cloud eggs are a fun, easy way to change up your egg game.”
Foodies raced to the comments to share their thoughts, with one person writing: “Wow these look amazing – defo going to try with the family.”
Another said: “We used to do something like this on toast. We called it princess egg.”
Caroline said: “Sent this straight to my husband and we had them for breakfast. Big thumbs up from our little girl,” while Lucie added: “Stopppp these look so good.”
So if you’re looking for a creative way to switch up your regular eggs for breakfast in the morning, this is what you’ll need to do.
Ingredients
- As many eggs are you like, yolks and whites separated
- Salt
- Pepper
Method
Take as many eggs as you intend on eating and separate the whites and yolks. Season the whites with salt and pepper and whisk.
Once the whites are very firm then spoon them onto a baking paper lined baking try and using the back of a spoon create a yoke sized well on the top of each ‘cloud’.
Put in the oven set at 160℃ (320℉) for eight minutes.
Take them out of the oven and place the yolks into the wells. Put the clouds back in the oven for another five minutes and they’re ready to go.
Season more if needed and enjoy.
