easyJet has stated that people’s flight or holiday bookings could be cancelled post-payment under certain conditions.
The airline’s website details a comprehensive set of terms and conditions, with one section detailling “cancellations of bookings for certain behaviours”. According to easyJet, the company “reserves the right to cancel” flights or other reservations, refuse boarding, or “take other actions to protect us and our systems, with or without prior notice”.
This action may be taken, easyJet notes, if “you cannot provide, upon request, contact information for the cardholder in order for us to carry out security checks; the cardholder did not authorise or disputes the authorisation of the payment and/or claims that the booking is fraudulent; you have not paid (or the booker has not paid on your behalf) the appropriate fares or any other outstanding charges related to your booking; we reasonably suspect that the booking, or any information provided in relation to the booking (whether provided by the cardholder, the booker or a passenger) is fraudulent, deceptive, abusive or inaccurate; and/or we reasonably suspect that the cardholder, booker or any passenger on the booking, is connected to any other fraudulent activity.”
easyJet has also outlined its cancellation policy for those who may need to cancel their bookings. If a cancellation is requested within 24 hours of making the booking, it can be done free of charge, except for a £49 online cancellation fee or a £55 fee if done through the easyJet Customer Services Team.
However, cancellations cannot be made less than two hours before the scheduled departure time of the first flight, even if it was booked less than 24 hours prior. In cases of serious or terminal illness, a Medical Declaration document must be submitted.
The airline states: “Our team will review your case and if your circumstances qualify we may, in our discretion, offer you a refund or flight voucher towards the value of a subsequent flight”.
In the event of a family bereavement, customers are advised to contact the Customer Services Team as soon as possible. easyJet adds: “Our team will review your case and if your circumstances qualify we may, in our discretion, offer you a refund, fee waiver to change your flight or flight voucher towards the value of a subsequent flight, to be used within twelve months. You may be asked to provide proof of these special circumstances.”
If you happen to cancel, miss or not take your flight, you are entitled to a full refund of the Government Tax for the unused flight(s). This can be done by reaching out to the easyJet Customer Services Team.
