Easy Ryanair hack to avoid extra fee at the airport | Travel News | Travel

A woman who travels regularly has shared a hack to swerve Ryanair fees you may be hit with at the airport. Chelsea Dickenson calls herself the “cheap holiday expert” and her travel knowledge has seen her appear on TV shows such as This Morning, as well as garnering thousands of social media followers.

She and her partner James Robinson host the Passports Please podcast, and in a new episode Chelsea has shared how to avoid being charged around £20 extra by Ryanair. The airline is known for its no-frills approach, with passengers often having to pay more for things like baggage and seats.

And one rule could set travellers back further. Chelsea explained that Ryanair’s boarding card reissue fee “is a classic”. She said: “This is when you’ve checked in but you need a boarding pass to scan” and when James said “You don’t need to print it off”, she added: “Correct”.

Further explaining, Chelsea added: “When you check in on a laptop or a desktop computer, it doesn’t give you a mobile boarding pass because it knows that you’re not on a mobile. And often it says ‘please print this to bring with you for your flight’ and so what happens is people print it out, or they panic, they get to the airport and say ‘I didn’t have a printer. Can I get a boarding pass?’

“And [Ryanair] will charge you £20.” Highlighting how people can avoid the fee, Chelsea said: “Even if you’ve checked in already, if you go onto the mobile app, type in your flight number and get your booking up, you will be able to get a mobile boarding pass for free.”

“No one should have to pay that £20”.
