Very has started its Black Friday discounts early
Black Friday sales are always a good time to pick up the gadget you’ve had your eye on, hopefully at a nicely discounted price. But the biggest sale event of the year is no longer just one day. Instead, retailers stretch out the sales for most of November. That’s good if you don’t want to make a snap decision, and also means lots more tech than previous years will go on offer in 2024.
Popular online retailer Very is no exception to this rule, and has many early Black Friday offers live already along with rivals Currys, John Lewis and Argos.
We’ve scoured scores of savings to handpick the ones worth your time. Here are the best early Black Friday tech deals from Very.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE
NOW £358 – SAVE £91
If you want a new tablet but don’t want an iPad, you can’t go wrong with this Android slate from Samsung. The Galaxy Tab S9 FE has a big, bright 10.9-inch OLED display with smooth 90Hz refresh rate that looks great whether you’re watching Netflix, scrolling social media, writing emails or drawing your latest masterpiece with the included S Pen stylus.
The tablet has IP68 water and dust resistance so it’ll survive an accidental dip, and the large battery should last you a couple of days and then some. Just be aware that though it can fast charge, there’s no charger in the box. We favourably reviewed the larger Galaxy Tab S9 FE+, which is also on sale for £588.
Nintendo Switch bundle
NOW £299 – SAVE £75
The Nintendo Switch may well see a long-awaited sequel next year but that doesn’t make the console a bad buy in 2024. The clever portable handheld that can also be plugged into its dock to play on the TV has an extensive catalogue of outstanding games including the superlative Mario Kart 8. This Switch bundle saves you £75 and includes the console and that now-classic game.
You also get the fun multiplayer Super Mario Party game, as well as the Switch Sports game preinstalled. Not only that but the price includes a 12 month Nintendo online subscription so you can play games against people online all over the world, as well as get access to classic Nintendo games from old consoles. This is a very good value bundle from, er, Very.
iPhone 13
NOW £449 – SAVE £50
With the caveat that the iPhone 13 was first released in 2021, this is a solid deal. Apple still pushes software updates to this model, and will likely do so for another three years. The iPhone 13 is a well-built, relatively compact phone with solid dual cameras and all-day battery life.
Apple no longer sells the phone but Very has it on sale for £449. That’s a good price for a brand new iPhone, and with 128GB storage you shouldn’t run out of space. You can also pick up the iPhone 14 for £549, which has a slightly faster processor but is otherwise very similar.
Google Pixel 8 Pro
NOW £499 – SAVE £500
This is one of the best Black Friday deals we’ve ever seen. The Google Pixel 8 Pro was one of our favourite phones of 2023 and to see it with £500 is amazing. An absolute steal for £499, which is the RRP of the still-good but mid-range Pixel 8a.
The Pixel 8 Pro is a full flagship Android phone with an excellent screen, very capable triple cameras, all-day battery life and lovely build quality. You can get this 128GB version in black, blue or white, and Google has promised to service it with software updates for seven years from launch, meaning you’ll be fully secure until 2030.
GoPro Hero 12 Black
NOW £299 – SAVE £100
While our smartphones have become our go-to cameras, the devices themselves can be fragile, aren’t safely submersible in water and can be tough to hold when recording in some situations. Enter action cameras, small, rugged devices you can use to video your life and adventures. GoPro is the market leader, with pocketable cameras such as the GoPro Hero 12 Black, which currently has £100 off for Black Friday.
With incredibly smooth video thanks to clever stabilisation tech as well as a screen on the rear and on the front for lining up vlogs and selfies, the Hero 12 Black has a wide angle to capture the whole scene and can be charged up via USB-C. You can even buy several batteries and quickly swap them out to cover your whole day recording. It’s perfect for gigs, swimming, sky diving, skiing, or just to have a compact video camera when you don’t want to use your phone.
Ring Video Doorbell With Chime
NOW £59 – SAVE £59
If you want to see who is at your front door even when you aren’t home, a video doorbell is the way to do it. Ring, which is owned by Amazon, lets you do that with its affordable products, and this deal also gets you an all-important chime box that rings throughout your home like a regular doorbell. Without one, doorbell alerts will only show up as notifications on your phone.
This bell is battery powered, so you don’t have to hook it up to your electrics to make it work. You simply unclip the (otherwise securely fastened) unit occasionally and charge it up. When someone presses the button, you can see who is there on your smartphone, and thanks to a two-way talk feature you can speak to them. This is handy if you want a parcel left with a neighbour or in a safe place – or if you know the caller and want to tell them you’re not home. All this for £59 – half price – is a great deal.
Very will certianly have more deals going live over the next couple of weeks, so be sure to check back to see if there’s anything you’d like to pick up. As ever, it’s only a good deal if you actually want the product. It’s not a good idea to buy something just because it is cheaper than usual.
