The brother of the late Princess Diana has spoken out about his new girlfriend who is 18-years younger than him.
Charles Earl Spencer, 60, met archaeologist Dr Catrine Jarman in 2021 when she was working at Althorp, the Spencer family home that Charles still lives in.
Princess Diana’s brother said their relationship started of as colleagues and moved onto a friendship as a result of their “shared interests”, with the pair then launching a podcast together called “The Rabbit Hole Detectives” with Reverend Richard Coles, who is currently starring on ITV’s I’m A Celebrity.
While Charles said he was not looking for love at the time, the 60-year-old revealed how their friendship eventually turned into a romance, despite the fact he “wasn’t even thinking” about this.
The earl – who is uncle to Prince Harry and Prince William – told The Mail: “I’ve never been with a much younger person. I wasn’t even thinking romance.
“I’ve never tried to do a hard sell on Cat. She’s very canny, very emotionally mature.
“She knows who I am. Who I really am. I don’t have to pretend to be something I am not. And she brings out the best in me.”
The relationship comes after the Earl split from wife Countess Karen Spencer earlier this year after being married for 13 years. It is believed they first announced their intention to split with people working at Althorp in March.
The couple share one 12-year-old daughter – Charlotte Diana – together.
While Charles’ relationship with Cat is relatively new, it is likely the could spend the festive season together.
This comes after the Earl invited Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their two children over to the UK to spend Christmas with them.
It is believed that Prince Harry, 40, who has a close relationship with his uncle, declined the offer and will instead spend the festive season at their home in California.
