Saquon Barkley is no longer in the prediction market business.

The Eagles running back told Front Office Sports that he divested his equity stake in Polymarket after the NFL clarified its gambling restrictions prohibit players from investing in or promoting prediction market companies.

“I am not in that right now,” Barkley told the outlet. “I am not allowed to be in that … I was in it before, but no bueno.”

In September 2025, it was revealed that Barkley held equity in Polymarket, among several private startups in his investment portfolio.

He was among a growing number of big-name athletes who have struck lucrative deals with prediction market companies in recent years.

Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo became a shareholder in Polymarket rival Kalshi in February.

LeBron James announced a partnership with Polymarket in September, reportedly worth $15 million annually, while golfer Bryson DeChambeau became Kalshi’s first official athlete ambassador earlier this year.

Basketball players Kyle Kuzma and Breanna Stewart have also partnered with Kalshi.

The NFL has taken a much more cautious approach to the growing industry.

While the league has official partnerships with gambling companies like DraftKings, FanDuel and Fanatics, it has yet to establish similar relationships with prediction markets.

Earlier this month, the NFL urged the Supreme Court to consider a legal challenge involving Kalshi, arguing that sports-related prediction markets should face state gambling regulations.

The league has raised concerns about insider trading and the potential manipulation of markets involving player injuries, officiating decisions and other outcomes that could be determined in advance.

Other leagues have been much quicker to jump into the prediction market world.

Just this week, the NBA announced partnerships with Kalshi and Polymarket.

MLB and the NHL both made deals with prediction market companies earlier this year, while the NFL has stayed on the sidelines.
