With the approaching winter period causing concern for households struggling with the rising cost of living, bill payers have been told that one energy firm’s initiative will provide customers with replacement home appliances, free of charge. E.ON Next, which supplies more than 47 million customers, offer the scheme to those experiencing financial difficulty.
E.ON Next’s Energy Fund can help in two ways. Firstly, to support people with energy bill debt and payments, and secondly to help with replacement appliances, such as ovens, fridges, and washing machines. Eligible E.ON gas and/or electricity customers can apply for replacement their items are broken or impaired.
New energy-efficient models can save households money this winter, as well as long-term. Customers of Sainsbury’s Energy can also apply. The E.ON site states: “To get a replacement appliance that’s more energy-efficient, such as a cooker, fridge, fridge-freezer or washing machine if yours has broken down, you’ll need to get in touch with the Energy Fund”.
Those wishing to apply for this scheme must know their E.ON Next or Sainsbury’s Energy account number and prepare for questions on their circumstance. Charis, which manages the E.ON Next Energy Fund, says that eligibility is based on customers’ health status as well their finances.
E.ON will request proof of all benefits claimed by adults within the household. Proof of sickness within the household, which has recieved an official GP diagnosis will also be needed.
This medical note can be in the form of a summary, letter, or certificate provided by a health worker, medical professional or doctor.
These must be recently sourced — less than three months ago — and clearly dated and named; with only the DWP annual State Pension benefit and Child Benefit letters acting as an exception.
