The Duke of Westminster has issued a new statement about his work, just weeks before becoming a father for the first time. Aristocrat Hugh Grosvenor took to his charity’s official Instagram page to talk about his Westminster Foundation’s new strategy for the next five years.
He said in a post: “We’re focusing our efforts where we feel we can make the greatest impact, through grant funding, helping charities grow stronger and more resilient, and teaming up with others to push for broader positive change.” The foundation represents the charitable interests of Hugh Grosvenor and his businesses and provides long-term, sustainable help to vulnerable young people by working closely with other organisations that support families, schools, and local communities.
Its “refreshed strategy for the next five years will keep the focus on four key strategic themes, including Education & Career Readiness, Healthy Diet, Land and Nature and Sport & Physical Activity.
The charity said on the website: “In response, we will continue to provide long-term funding that we heard is so valued and focus on early intervention, while introducing new grant types to encourage collaboration and innovation.”
It comes just weeks ahead of the Duke’s major milestone as he and wife, Duchess of Westminster are expecting their first child in the summer.
A spokesperson said earlier this year: “The duchess is expecting a baby in the summer.
“The couple are delighted with the news and are very much looking forward to starting a family together.”
The duke, one of the UK’s biggest landowners, is a close friend of both the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Sussex, and godfather to Prince George and also reportedly to Prince Archie.
Prince William acted as an usher at his wedding in Chester Cathedral last year, but Harry mutually agreed with the groom that he would not attend amid his long-running rift with his brother.
Princess Eugenie attended the wedding too.
