A driving instructor has shown how to navigate one of the UK’s most complex roundabouts that has even confused drivers with years of experience. The video, posted to TikTok via an account called @clearviewdriving, shows the driving instructor driving around the “magic roundabout”. Known for its complex layout and heavy traffic, the roundabout in question has long left drivers scratching their heads.
In the video, which has already received thousands of views and shares, the instructor walks viewers through the roundabout. Many commenters were confused by the concept of going anti-clockwise on the roundabout, which is what the driving instructor does. One person commented: “I’d happily take a two-hour detour in order to absolutely avoid hell out of that horror story of a roundabout.”
The Plough roundabout is located near to St Albans, Leighton Buzzard and Bovindon. It consists of multiple exits, each with another mini roundabout to navigate as you come off the main one.
Using a combination of on-road footage and voiceover, the instructor demystifies the notoriously difficult junction and viewers are fascinated that it even exists.
The instructor shows how the key to getting around is to wait for cars to enter and then enter behind them allowing for a smooth transition.
She also breaks down how to navigate each mini roundabout drivers will encounter while getting around the main one.
While it seems complicated, this video makes it feel less intimidating as the driver remains calm and explains step by step each decision she makes.
Many rushed to the comments to share their thoughts on the video.
One viewer commented: “Whoever designed this likes chaos”.
Another penned: “I would just cry and get confused.”
However, not everyone was stressed at the thought of driving around it, another said: “Doesn’t look as bad as people make it out to be.”
With more and more drivers turning to platforms like TikTok for quick tips and advice, instructors who embrace these tools are helping reduce anxiety on the roads.
Whether you’re a learner driver or someone who’s been behind the wheel for years, this video might just be the key to mastering one of the UK’s most feared road features.
