A motoring expert has urged drivers to use two common household items to clean their car and avoid fines of up to £1,000 for a serious offence.
With most parts of the UK experiencing a warm spell of weather, many drivers are finding that their car’s bodywork is quickly covered in dust and needs a clean.
While there are a wide range of specialist cleaning products designed for cars, LeaseLoco.com suggested that many household items are ideal for washing certain components, including white vinegar.
They advised: “White vinegar is very effective for cleaning car windows and achieving a streak-free finish.
“Just mix together a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water, pour it into a spray bottle and use microfibre cloths for wiping.”
Just like with household windows, white vinegar is a particularly efficient product for cleaning the vehicle’s glass surfaces due to its incredibly acidic nature.
Compared to other typical ways of cleaning windows, white vinegar also prevents streaks and gives the glass surface an impressive shine, helping drivers make their car look dazzling.
However, more importantly, making sure their vehicle’s windows are clean can help drivers reduce blind spots that could result in a higher chance of accidents and fines of up to £1,000.
Similarly, LeaseLoco.com recommended that drivers trying to remove stains from their vehicle’s interior try a mix of baking soda and water.
They continued: “Mixing together a paste of baking soda and water is excellent for refreshing your car seats and getting rid of tricky stains.
“You can also use baking soda to eliminate odours by just sprinkling some on your car’s interior, letting it sit, and vacuuming it up.”
Baking soda acts as a minor abrasive, meaning drivers who add it to their interior are able to effectively lift dirt and grease.
As a result, motorists looking to give their car’s interior a fresh lease of life should mix four tablespoons of it with 60ml of water, apply the paste onto any stains, and leave the substance to absorb overnight before removing it with water.
The company also highlighted that baking soda can also help to remove bad smells inside the car due to its absorbing qualities.
