Draymond Green talks rumors at NBA trade deadline

Draymond Green, at least on the surface, appears to be at peace with the possibility that he might be traded from the Warriors this week.

The Golden State superstar was asked on Tuesday night about the speculation he could be involved in a swap with another team by Thursday’s deadline, and he seemed OK with the idea of potentially suiting up for a different squad next week.

“I think a lot of people want to know how I feel about it,” Green said. “Like, am I upset about it? I’m not at all. If that’s what’s best for this organization, that’s what’s best for the organization. I’m not like, ‘Ah, they f—ed me over.’ I don’t really feel that way.”

Green said he was initially skeptical of the validity of the reports that he could be dealt this week, but he told reporters a conversation with Steve Kerr ultimately changed things.

He said following the chat with his head coach, he informed his son he might no longer be a Warrior at some point in the near future.

But he reiterated there will be no hard feelings if he’s eventually sent elsewhere.

“I’ve been here 13½ years,” Green said. “That’s longer than probably 98% of NBA players have been in one place. A guy from Saginaw, Michigan. I don’t know that it ends at 13½, but if it does, what a f—ing run it’s been. I’ll take the fine. What a f—ing run it has been. That’s just how I feel.”

Green joined the Warriors in 2012 and helped lead them to four championships.

Golden State does not play again until Thursday night against Phoenix, meaning Tuesday’s loss to the 76ers could ultimately be the final game of Green’s historic Warriors tenure.
