Luka Doncic dropped 52 points against the Jazz Sunday.
But Draymond Green still believes the Lakers superstar will never win the NBA’s Most Valuable Player award.
“Luka Doncic drops his first 50-ball of the season. And you ask yourself the question, is he on an MVP mission this season? I think yes, for sure, that’s his mindset. He’s made that very clear,” Green said on his podcast.
“He put out a letter to the fans and all that. First year not having ‘Bron and it really being his team and organization. And he’s come out and played that way.
“But I will tell you, I still don’t think there’s any chance that he’s going to win MVP. Because the moment he have a few bad games or an injury that costs him a few games, people are gonna flip back on him. Oh, same Luka.
“And that’s just my opinion. I think people get bored with greatness. I think Luka has been doing great things for a very long time now. And I think they’re gonna stay bored with it.”
Green previously discussed Doncic’s chances of winning MVP this season after the 27-year-old received zero votes on a survey from NBA general managers predicting the 2026-27 winner.
While Doncic is evidently off to a strong start, it’s clear the MVP consensus around the league doesn’t include the Lakers superstar.
Perhaps, an otherworldly season from Doncic could change their minds.
