Dramatic moment ULEZ camera explodes after 'vigilantes tear it down'

Shocking CCTV footage has shown the moment a ULEZ camera explodes while being chopped down by vandals.

The incident took place in Sidcup, London, at about 7pm yesterday, when one vigilante cut through the camera with an angle grinder before it exploded shortly after.

Bursting into flames the camera threw shrapnel across the town’s Willersley Avenue damaging a number of vehicles parked nearby.

There are also reports that homes were damaged in the electrical explosion.

No one was injured in the explosion.

In a tweet with further video footage of the incident, one man invited Mayor of London Sadiq Khan to “come and have a selfie”.

During the video a man explained: “A ULEZ camera has been dismantled and blown a geezer’s van in half.

“There’s shrapnel everywhere, it’s broken a geezer’s fence. It’s like a World War Two explosion went off.

“This is all over a ULEZ camera, well done Sadiq, putting more people’s lives at risk.”
